Named Nageshwar meaning “Lord of serpents,” it commemorates Shiva’s rescue of devotee Supriya from demon Daruka at Darukavan; Shiva appeared in luminous form and defeated the demon .
Supriya’s devotional chants “Om Namaha Shivaya” invoked Shiva’s protection .
The Jyotirlinga is believed to grant freedom from physical and spiritual venom—poisons, negativity, anger .
Architecture & Features Of The Nageshwar Temple:-
The principal swayambhu (self‑manifested) linga faces south and is carved from Dwarka Shaila, featuring small chakra motifs and resembling a tri‑mukhi Rudraksha .
Temple layout symbolizes the human body: entrance as feet, porches as hands, prayer hall as torso, sanctum as the head .
The complex houses shrines for Shiva, Parvati (as Nageshwari), Ganesha, Kartikeya, Nandi, and a colossal 25–80 ft seated statue of Shiva .

Location: ~15–18 km southwest of Dwarka, on the route to Bet Dwarka .
Timings: Usually open 6 AM–12:30 PM and 5 PM–9/9:30 PM; darshan in traditional attire (men remove shirts) .
Best time to visit: October–February; also bilks of pilgrims during Maha Shivaratri & Shravan .
