 Baba Baidhnath Dham is situated in Deoghar District of Jharkhand State .

Baba Baidyanath Dham, also known as Baidyanath Jyotirlinga, is a revered Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.

It holds immense significance as one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, the most sacred abodes of Shiva. 

The myth behind the Mandir is as:-

According to legend, Ravana, the demon king of Lanka, performed intense penance to appease Lord Shiva, offering his ten heads as a sacrifice. Pleased by his devotion, Shiva granted him a boon. Ravana requested to take the "Kamna Linga" to Lanka. Shiva agreed but warned that if the linga was placed on the ground, it would remain there permanently. During his journey, Ravana had to set the linga down, and it became immovable, establishing the site of the Baidyanath temple.

Every year there is mela in Hindi month sawan ie known as Shravani Mela: A Grand Pilgrimage

During the month of Shravan (July–August), millions of devotees undertake a pilgrimage known as the Shravani Mela.  Pilgrims, referred to as "Kanwariyas," collect holy water from the Ganges at Sultanganj and carry it over a distance of approximately 105 kilometers to offer at the Baidyanath temple on lord Shiva shivling as given in picture.


This month-long festival is marked by fervent devotion and vibrant celebrations.
