It's situated in Giridih district on the Chota Nagpur Plateau . The summit of this hill is the sacred Jain pilgrimage center called Shikharji, arguably the most important Jain tirtha. It's revered because 20 of the 24 Tirthankaras achieved moksha (liberation) here, including the 23rd Tirthankara, Parshvanatha, who attained nirvana in 772 BCE .
